Above this bustle and small medieval buildings, like enormous stone giants, rise the cathedrals. Their spires pierced the sky, stained glass scattered light into crimson and green visions, and gargoyles from on high gazed down at the crowds below, like vultures scanning for prey.
I wandered through the cities, trying to dissolve into their magic, but the ghost of the past glided behind me. Beneath my skin, anxiety grew, as if the air trembled from an invisible threat.
