This painting is a pivotal experiment in my Kyiv series. While it draws structural inspiration from the works of David Cheifetz, I have radically transformed the technique to explore the intersection of Impressionism and Cubism. In this piece, the brushstrokes no longer aim to capture a fleeting impression; instead, they function like the facets of a gemstone.

The familiar rainy cityscape of Kyiv is deconstructed into sharp, luminous planes of pink, gold, and deep indigo. By merging the fluid energy of a storm with the rigid geometry of a crystal, I’ve created a world that is not what it seems. It is a reality fractured and then rebuilt, where light doesn't just reflect—it refracts, turning a gloomy evening into a rhythmic dance of precious stones.
